Umihoshi Nanai's romantic comedy manga Kizuguchi to Hōtai (Wound & Bandage) is officially receiving a television anime adaptation. Alongside the announcement, the production team unveiled teaser visuals and confirmed that the series will premiere in January 2027.
The anime will be produced by J.C.STAFF, with Miyuki Ishida serving as director. Susumu Yamakawa is handling the series composition and scripts, while Natsuki Oyama is designing the characters for animation. The first teaser visuals introduce the series' unique blend of romance, comedy, and yakuza-inspired storytelling.

About the Story
Kizuguchi to Hōtai follows Gō Kiritani, a young yakuza member who is assigned to protect Riyo Washizu, the daughter of a powerful yakuza boss. While the job initially appears straightforward, Gō soon discovers that Riyo has a rather unusual fascination—she finds it irresistible when normally strong people become vulnerable due to injuries.
As Gō repeatedly gets hurt during his duties, Riyo eagerly nurses him back to health, leading to an unconventional romantic comedy filled with awkward encounters, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs.
About the Manga
The manga was first published as a one-shot before beginning serialization on Kodansha's Comic DAYS platform in August 2024. Since then, it has steadily gained popularity thanks to its quirky premise, memorable characters, and fresh take on the romantic comedy genre. The fifth collected volume is scheduled to release in Japan on July 16, 2026.
With an experienced staff at J.C.STAFF and a distinctive romantic comedy premise, Kizuguchi to Hōtai is shaping up to be one of the more unique anime premieres of the Winter 2027 season. Fans can look forward to seeing Gō and Riyo's unconventional relationship animated when the series debuts in January 2027.
