After a little over four years, The Girl Past the Filters (Filter Goshi no Kanojo) is coming to a close. Coamix's Monthly Comic Zenon announced in its September issue, released on July 24, that Suzu Ōmi's manga will conclude in the magazine's next issue on August 25.
What the Series Is About
Yen Press, which licenses the manga in English, sums up the premise like this: after an ill-fated attempt at smiling as a kid emptied out an entire playground and left him friendless, high schooler Narumi Hakobe has learned to keep his face permanently unreadable. His only real hobby is following posts from Efa, a racy social media personality he can't get enough of — until he discovers Efa is secretly his popular, seemingly perfect classmate, Koto Mitsuha. Once Narumi's in on her secret, he gets pulled into helping her make content, and the two grow steadily closer while trying to keep the truth under wraps.
The Series' Run So Far
Ōmi launched The Girl Past the Filters in Monthly Comic Zenon in April 2022. Coamix began releasing the manga in collected volumes in February 2023, with the 10th volume shipping this past June 19 — meaning the story wraps up shortly after reaching that milestone. Beyond the print volumes, Coamix and Imagineer also publish the series digitally through the MangaHot app and website, where it's presented under the English title Secret Girl through the Filter.
English-language readers have been catching up too: Yen Press published the manga's second volume in English on May 26, following the debut volume's release in late 2025.
A Story About Identity Behind the Screen
Much of what's made The Girl Past the Filters stand out is its focus on the gap between how people present themselves online and who they actually are — a theme reviewers have pointed to as the series' real emotional core, using Narumi and Koto's dynamic to explore vulnerability, self-image, and connection in the social media age.
