Fans of manga have plenty to look forward to as Kodansha USA unveiled an exciting lineup of new print licenses during its Anime Expo presentation. The publisher confirmed several highly anticipated releases arriving in Spring 2027, including deluxe editions of classic masterpieces, brand-new manga, and prose collections based on fan-favorite series.
The announcement features legendary works by Osamu Tezuka alongside fresh stories from modern creators, offering something for every type of manga reader.
Phoenix Returns in a Deluxe Collector's Edition
One of the biggest highlights is the Phoenix Deluxe Edition, bringing Osamu Tezuka's timeless masterpiece back to print in a premium collector's format.
Often regarded as one of the greatest manga ever created, Phoenix explores themes of life, death, reincarnation, and humanity across multiple interconnected eras. The deluxe edition aims to give both longtime collectors and new readers the definitive way to experience Tezuka's unfinished epic.
Witch Hat Atelier Expands With New Short Stories
Following the anime's growing popularity, Kodansha USA also announced Witch Hat Atelier: Special Stories, a prose collection written by Jun Esaka under the supervision of creator Kamome Shirahama.
The collection includes three original side stories featuring beloved characters from the magical fantasy series, accompanied by exclusive illustrations from Shirahama herself. Readers can expect adventures involving magical creatures, dragons, and the Knights Moralis that expand the world beyond the manga.
Historié Finally Gets a New English Print Release
Historical manga fans have another reason to celebrate with the return of Historié, the acclaimed series by Hitoshi Iwaaki.
Known for its detailed storytelling and historical depth, the series follows the life of Eumenes, who would later become one of Alexander the Great's most trusted generals. The new English print release offers readers another opportunity to experience one of the medium's finest historical dramas.
Fatale Game Brings Intense Yuri Drama
Among the brand-new licenses is Fatale Game by Battan.
The manga follows a struggling artist whose life changes after being assigned a mysterious new editor. Combining psychological tension, emotional conflict, and yuri romance, the series promises a compelling character-driven narrative from the creator of Run Away With Me, Girl!.
